Have you ever heard of Potassium Bromate?
In the U.S., the chemical compound is used by some food makers, usually in the form of fine crystals or powder, to strengthen dough. The FDA allows potassium bromate in food as long as it doesn't exceed 750 parts per million. It can be found in bread, flours, pizza dough, buns, and pretty much anything that would contain flour.
But in Europe, China and India, it is a suspected carcinogen that is banned for human consumption
